Information Request: COVID-19 Vacation Pay

CWA recently won an arbitration case over the issue of Piedmont taking vacation time from employees who ran out of sick time even if the employee did not elect to have their vacation time used to cover their absence. In her award, the Arbitrator ruled that the company violated the CBA "by using accrued vacation hours for agents recovering from COVID-19 who did not elect to use vacation hours for this purpose and who did not request to be granted a Medical Leave of Absence."

CWA needs to know if you were one of these employees.  

If you were absent from work due to COVID-19 and ran out of sick time, and the company used vacation time to cover your absence even if you did not elect to use vacation time, please respond by e-mail [email protected] with as much information as possible: your name, station, Piedmont employee ID, approximate date of your COVID-19 absence, and how much vacation time the company took.

The deadline to respond is July 15.
