Updates from the 80th CWA Convention

The 80th CWA Convention was held this week, Monday August 11th and Tuesday, August 12th in Pittsburgh, Penn. Delegates came together to vote on critical issues for our union, including adopting a groundbreaking budget proposal that will help ensure CWA’s long term strength and stability. You may read CWA’s UNBREAKABLE resolution here.

For Passenger Service members, the Convention marked a major milestone. One important victory, securing a seat on the Defense Fund Oversight Committee (DFOC), is the result of years of advocacy by Passenger Service leaders.

The election of new DFOC representatives for passenger service members demonstrates CWA’s continued commitment to agents across American, Piedmont and Envoy. We continue to fight on your behalf and look forward to a bright future together.

CWA Passenger Service Wins Historic Seat on the CWA Defense Fund Oversight Committee (DFOC)

During the 80th Convention, delegates voted by acclamation to adopt an amendment to Article XVI, Section 10 of the CWA Constitution. The amendment adds a representative and an alternate from Passenger Service to the Defense Fund Oversight Committee (DFOC), CWA’s administrative body responsible for overseeing the Robert Lilja Members’ Relief Fund (RLMRF), Strategic Industry Funds (SIF), and Growth Funds (GF).

Under the amendment, the representative and alternate will serve a four-year terms and have greater authority to make decisions regarding the use of SIF and Growth Funds to strengthen and expand the program.

Your DFOC representative and alternate represent agents from mainline American and regional units, ensuring balanced and equitable representation for all agents on the DFOC:
