Members of Congress Stand with Envoy and Piedmont Workers!

In a session of the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, May 23, as members of Congress debated the National Defense Authorization Act, Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Darren Soto (D-FL) spoke out powerfully in support of Envoy and Piedmont passenger service professionals and our right to a living wage.

Rep. Khanna (D-CA) highlighted the struggle of Envoy and Piedmont workers as part of his declaration that all workers have the right to band together and speak out for their interests on the job. He said it’s clear that the Constitution is on the side of workers, and that at least 81 members of the House agree with him that American Airlines should pay a living wage.

“When passenger service agents are not making a living wage, I don’t understand it. I pay so much for these American Airlines tickets, and I wonder who the money is going to! The truth is, many of those workers aren’t getting a fair wage, particularly those who are working for Envoy and those who are working for Piedmont.”

Rep. Soto said that he shared Rep. Khanna’s concerns, and he believes that all American Airlines workers should receive fair wages for their work. He argued that the middle class is stronger when workers have a voice on the job!

We thank Reps. Khanna and Soto for bringing this issue to the attention of the House of Representatives and for their steadfast support of working people.
